SENIOR DESIGN AND ART DIRECTION

Over the last four years, I’ve closed more than 56 magazine issues under Cultured and its sister publications. I’ve managed photographers and designed front-of-book pages, full-length features, and cover lines. I’ve paginated advertising placement; color-corrected and retouched images; and managed post-production needs with Cultured’s designated Printer. 

My experience doesn't end on the page: through marketing, design, and branding practices, I’ve helped grow Cultured’s Instagram following from 68k at the start of my tenure to currently over 220k followers. I’ve developed new skills in email marketing, specifically creating a template on email applications such as Mailchimp for non-designers to navigate. During my time with the magazine, I’ve also helped execute cover shoots and manage full-team photoshoots for prominent creatives like Mary J. Blige and Janelle Monae. Many such sessions have taken place during the pandemic, necessitating the utmost coordination and organization. 

Although I’ve done extensive work at Cultured, I wasn’t managing so many different facets when I started there. My first title was Associate Art Director, and I only designed front-of-book layouts and digital graphics. Through continuous action, resilience, and innovation, I was able to make myself an essential, versatile force within the company.
